an enchanted holiday…

I love this photo because it wasn’t till Christmas Eve that I noticed the strip of blue tape I forgot to remove. I’m still working on the furniture arrangement for the small library so for now it has a couple club chairs I’ve no idea what to do with. I hear craigslist calling!

Next year I will add greenery to the mantle, this year I simply ran out of time but did add two urns filled with paper whites from Restoration Hardware.

Christmas cards filled a tray from Crate & Barrel

A silver lazy susan from the 1800’s (ebay find)  filled with gold pinecones and glittered glass acorns from Pottery Barn

Ribbon salvaged from last year’s presents adorned my vintage crystal glasses (next to finds from Ross).

Whole Foods was overflowing with tulips so I picked up a red bunch for a quick dose of color. I didn’t have place card holders for 11 so I bought a dozen candle holders from Michael’s and added an enchanted rose to each.

The last swan

A favorite

Christmas always comes and passes in a flash but this year it was a whirlwind. My boyfriend and I had 24 hours to finishing unpacking our house, rip down plastic, place furniture and decorate for Christmas in time for the arrival of family. Our cabinet maker finished at 1:30am Tuesday and I stayed up till morning cleaning and decorating. I was motivated by the idea that after months and years really that finally the house would come together as a home. We still have a long t0-do list but are gaining peace of mind one check mark at a time.

remodeling and tom ford

Worthy of your coffee table. Available at amazon.com

Lately my evening turn down ritual consists of removing a sheet of plastic from my bed and nightstands, then I move my nightstand back into place and arrange my things. This is par for the course during a remodel. It seems everything is either covered in plastic or dust from sanding the walls or both. Most of our belongings are in boxes organized by room. Speaking of which, I’ve  just remembered where my Yves Saint Laurent (Tom Ford) dark purple velvet jacket is, the one I wanted to wear now that the holidays are upon us. It’s sitting in a box that I had to hastily throw my clothes into before the closet installer arrived. If I don’t stop typing at this very moment and unpack my jacket it will become crushed velvet…literally!

a view from the top…the hollywood home depot

Many of my weekends are spent looking at this view…from the Home Depot in Hollywood. My boyfriend and I are this close to finishing his labor of love which is now mine too, our home in Los Angeles. Throughout the course of the re-model and our relationship I’ve come to know this store better than Neiman’s…while looking at dimmer switches, toilets and lumber I often wonder to isles that hold promise for more fashionable undertakings. Just yesterday I purchased 20 feet of gold chain to use for wrapping gifts this Christmas (photos to follow of my tough & chic presents). One added perk of this location is you never know who you’ll see.  Just a couple weekends ago I ran into Jeremiah from the Rachel Zoe show. I admire Rachel but I watch the show to gain inspiration from the young designer and source new design resources. He’s incredibly sweet too!
